this is my time schedule for my FMP, this helps me keep track of the deadline and helps me know what I’m meant to be doing and when.

After videos of festivals

Boomtown 2016

Existing Products: This the 2016 Boomtown after video showing some of the acts and all of the venues and all the various districts with its own camping ground. The festival was created by Nicolas Boom and the after video was made by clockwise media. This Festival consists of four days of a selection of live music which is played on one of the 22 stages, the The festival takes place in The Bowl, Matterley Estate, Hampshire.
I chose to get inspiration from this video as the costumes  and face paint are very unique which suits wonderland and would like costumes like that involved with my festival. the bright colours also inspires me as it what i would expect to see if you go to a festival like Boomtown and i think it would make the experience a lot better as well as the costume as it creates a good atmosphere as you rarely get to see something as good as that. The after video seems like the festival is actually a story due to the characters as they play roles of different  people such as soldiers wizards old fashioned clothing, face paint. All these key features of Boomtown is an ongoing theme relating the ‘legend’ of the festival. The Font used at the start of the video in the book in the after video looks quite ancient this keeps the aspect of the legend of the festival as the sceneray in shot looks like olden times as well as the costumes.Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 10.05.59

As the video goes on you see the different stages and the names of them. The font used for name normally suits the genre/ style of music, for example the stage sector 6 is where the fast upbeat music is playing genres of like  drum and bass and electronic, so they made the font look modern and also quite digital. Screen Shot 2017-04-26 at 10.12.08

Tomorrowland 2016

Tomorrowland is an electronic music festival held in Boom, Belgium, it was first held in 2005 and has become one of the biggest and well known festival in the world. Tomorrowland is held in 3 places: Belgium, USA and Brazil, it also stretches over 2 weekends. Tomorrowland is such a popular festival they sold 360 000 tickets in under an hour. Known for its intense energy and introspective decorations, Tomorrowland has a surreal quality that makes them stand out visually from its competition.

I chose this festival to get inspired by as it is one of the best festivals in the world and I think the venue and stages are great, the atmosphere of the festival draws you in as there looks like there is always something to do. the bright lighting effects also adds a massive effect making it a great experience. This video was made by The Great People Of Tomorrow. There are a variety of shot types within the video, you can see what the festival looks like from different aspects, they include: wide, long, medium , low , birds eye view, panning, exposing, tracking and over the head/shoulder.

There are different features that are shown on camera and make the scene looks how it is, this involves  sun light brightening the place up and shining on everything this is also known as natural light but the are also light effects which create an atmosphere as well as the fireworks.

Nass 2016

I chose toget inspiration from this festival as it has similar competitions to what i would want at my festival such as skateboarding and possibly bmx, it also has similar types of music genre such as drum and bass and rap/grime. where as some of the other festivals has reggae, electro pop, house etc which I would also include at my festival.

Looking at these to festivals gives me a better understanding of what there is to do at festivals and how it all works, it also shows me some different themes and uses a variety of costumes, colours and acts to create the atmosphere. when analysing these videos I tried to keep an eye out for the main themes so i can then use it for inspiration and apply it to my own festival.

Line up posters

looking at the line up for different festivals gives me an idea on what acts I should include when I make my line up and also what colours and especially the layout.

I chose to gather inspiration from these to website page layouts as they are both similar layouts which are simple it is easy to find information about the festivals, i like how everything is laid out on both the pages as it is fairly simple and they have left space so it doesn’t look to hectic and is easy to read.

Festival tickets

Festival tickets are used as proof of entry of the festival you are meant to keep your ticket or wristband (if they have wristbands) on you at all times, this proves that you paid to get into the festival. On a festival ticket it should say the name of the festival in festival font, the dates, the address, name, price, a bar code,

The Good, Bad and Ugly when going to a music festival

The good: it can be a great experience due to all the different types of live music, get to see your favorite artists, normally good weather.

The bad: Music festivals are normally very overcrowded and it can be very easy to lose your friends or your possessions. Festivals are also overpriced weather it is accessories or food .

The ugly: Effects of over consuming alcohol and drugs is not nice to see, drugs are banned at most festivals and are illegal in most places and are also dangerous, Music festivals are usually hot, this is due to how crowded and exhilarating it is. The exhilaration causes your adrenaline to kick in and make you believe you are feeling great when in reality, your body isn’t agreeing with it when consuming more alcohol and drugs that is actually needed.

wonderland line up act ideas

These artists are possible ideas that i could include in my line up, there are a variety of genres which would suit the festival and create a good atmosphere.

 Wristbands

When going to a festival they will give you a wristband for proof of entry as you are less likely to lose it than your ticket, it also means you don’t have to continuously carry around your ticket although it is extra evidence of entry, but it you are less likely to lose it if you don’t have to take it with you.

I have been looking at different wristbands to see what types of colours to include when making my own, it also tells me where to place text, images, dates (layout).

Analysing art work

Josef Koudelka- Thames & Hudson

What do you think the work is about?

I think Koudelka’s work is about people around the work and how they live their lives, it shows the poverty and suffering side of the country and what goes on within their day, it also shows what state they live in and their location (on the page to the left of the image it says which country the photo was taken in and the year) .  It also shows people working in various countries in Europe and in different conditions, some of his work also includes scenery shots. i think his work his street photography as he catches people in day doing what they normally do.

How are you drawn into the work?

I am drawn into his work as they all have a black and white tonal range which creates more texture, the dark colours draws you in because it makes it easier to see everything in the frame as the are no bright colours (creating volume) over powering each other. Most of his photography has a good depth of field as the whole image is focused.
